Recruitment is a process through which companies find the right candidates to perform different jobs. Every company has to go through this process regularly as it expands and loses employees over time. Companies with higher employee retention rates do not have to hire new employees as frequently as companies with lower retention rates, but even they cannot avoid it altogether. Recruitment is a long, drawn-out, and complicated process as it is not easy to find right candidates that fit into the company. A Recruitment process generally involves the following steps: The first step is the identification of the gap created for a new employee. This may be in the form of work overload on a department, expansion of the company or department, the addition of a new post or department, or a vacuum created by the departure of a previous employee. A Job description is the first interaction between a potential employee and a company. The description must outline all requirements of the job and the responsibilities it ensues, in precise and understandable language. The next step is to post the job on various Recruiting channels and promote it so that maximum people can view it and apply if they are interested. The job can be posted on social media platforms, third-party recruiters, or on job postings websites. Companies receive a lot of resumes for a job posting. Many people who apply for the job are not eligible for it, so the company needs to go through them to separate the eligible candidates from the non-eligible ones. These eligible candidates are then called to make sure that they are available and an interview is scheduled. An interview allows the company and the potential employee to develop an understanding and allows the company to conclude whether or not the potential employee fulfills the requirements and is suited to the company or not. Once a candidate passes an interview, they are given a job offer by the company, outlining the terms and conditions and the salary and other benefits provided by the company. If the candidate accepts the offer, they are asked to sign a contract and be welcomed into the company. While a candidate may be knowledgeable, they will still need to be trained to perform the job and the daily tasks. This training period may be from 1 month to 3 months. Newspaper advertisements were how companies used to post their jobs. But with the ever-growing online community through the internet, posting jobs has become much more manageable, convenient, and cheaper while attracting a much larger audience. According to a survey, around two-thirds of total potential job seekers search for jobs through internet job boards. These job boards allow candidates to apply filters and search for the type of job they want according to the field, experience, education, and salary. A company's website is the most frequently visited side of the company and is the primary source of interaction between the company and potential clients and employees. Most big companies have their own careers page on which they display any job openings and portals through which people can apply in a few simple steps. An employee referral is a system through which companies encourage their employees to refer talented and experienced potential candidates to join the company and reward them for every successful referral. According to a survey, 81% of job recruitments are done through Employee referrals, and it has the highest success rate of any other recruiting channel, with a staggering 39%. The reason why employee referrals work so well is that the employees of a company know best what kind of employee will fit in the company and will be able to help the company in its growth and progress. Employee Referral programs bring in better than average employees with higher retention rates. Recruitment Agencies are a very convenient method of recruiting new employees. Most fresh graduates contact recruitment agencies when they start job hunting. Hence, these agencies have access to many job-seeking people, including the best talents and most experienced individuals. While a recruitment agency can cost quite a penny, the investment can be worth it for their services and the long-term benefits that the company will reap from it. Companies can approach colleges to include them in the list of companies that will attempt to recruit students once they graduate. Most universities and colleges hold seminars and conferences through which companies can get in contact with potential employees. There are many ways through which a company may be able to recruit new employees.
